The rally will be led by Richard Trumpka of the AFL-CIO, Anna Burger of SEIU, National People?s Action, and local, hard-working people put out of their homes and jobs by these bail-out bandits. Please use the flyer attached to invite friends, family and co-workers!
Why should you be there?
One year
ago, threatened with dire predictions of the total
collapse of our economy resulting in another Great Depression,
you and I, and
every American taxpayer, bailed out Wall Street?s biggest
banks-$15,000 dollars for every man, woman and child. Despite
massive protest from the public, Congress handed over one
trillion dollars of our money. What have we gotten in
return? Right
now, the big banks are:
foreclosing on one home every 13 seconds; denying credit to
small and large businesses alike, forcing layoffs and
closures-causing a 10% unemployment rate; charging inflated
interest rates on loans and credit cards; spending millions on
lobbying against reforms that would prevent the reckless and
greedy lending and investing practices that caused this crisis;
and unbelievably, doling out billions of dollars in
bonuses to themselves-all with our
money! We
cannot allow these bail-out bandits to get away with stealing
our money, our homes, our jobs, and our dreams for a better
tomorrow. We must
take a stand, and I hope you will join us.
If you believe in what we are fighting for, remember that Chicago Jobs with Justice needs your financial support to do our work. Please make a donation for our Fall Fundraising Campaign today.* Thank you for all that you do to help create a more just society and I look forward to seeing you on Tuesday, October 27th!
In Solidarity,
