Action Alert

Greetings,

Thanks to all of you who were able to join us yesterday, Tuesday October 27th for a landmark mobilization for a protest of the greedy big banks, bailed-out with trillions of our tax dollars, who were hosting their annual convention at the Sheraton Hotel, right here in Chicago! You can see footage here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ImrtaUpJYQ , (special thanks to Chicago Jobs with Justice volunteer Karyn McGroarty for taking and uploading the video!)

Police on the scene Tuesday estimated 4,000 or more people participated in the march from Wacker and Michigan to a rally staged directly in front of the Sheraton Hotel at 301 E. North Water St. The rally was led by President Richard Trumpka of the AFL-CIO, Anna Burger from Change to Win, Denise Dixon of Action Now, Armando Robles of UE and Republic Windows and Doors, and workers just like you and me struggling to pay their mortgages, student loans and keep their jobs.

The fight back continues: Friday, October 30th workers from France will be staging an action during a shareholders meeting of the Illinois-based Molex Corporation and Chicago Jobs with Justice will be there!  Please join us!  Call if you'd like to carpool from 333 S. Ashland-312.738.6161!

Molex Inc. is an Illinois-based multinational electronic component manufacturer that recently announced plans to shut down a profitable plant in the southwest of France, laying off more than 250 workers. It is anticipated that production will be moved to China and Vietnam.

Our sister federation in France, the CGT, is sending a delegation of workers from the French plant to confront management at its annual shareholders? meeting this Friday in Lisle, Ill.

Please join our French brothers and sisters at this event and help us send a strong message to Molex management and shareholders.

Meet the CGT delegation in front of Molex headquarters for a demonstration of solidarity with French workers trying to save their jobs.

Friday, Oct. 30th 9 a.m.
