Subject: No More Budget Cuts

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

I urge you to oppose more budget cuts. Previous budget proposals already contain too many cuts to essential services. I urge you to support a truly progressive income tax that asks a little more from the wealthy so that the most vulnerable may be protected. Do not balance the budget on the backs of working families and our most vulnerable citizens!

Sincerely,

Background Information

The Governor offered new some new tax proposals on Wednesday, August 26. Her proposals would increase taxes on wealthy residents by about $760 million over the next two years but she is insisting that the Democrats in the legislature identify $520 million more in cuts.

This is a bad deal for most Connecticut residents, particularly children, families, elderly, and the disabled. The legislature has already proposed $1.8 billion in cuts to needed services.
