No one at AFT imagined that our displaced Gulf Coast members would find the resources to practice the almost-forgotten art of the "thank-you" note. But since the AFT Disaster Relief Fund began to send out $500 grants, thank-you notes have poured in to AFT secretary-treasurer Nat LaCour's office from AFT evacuees.

Cleaning Up After the Hurricane: Safety First
This fact sheet outlines the precautions and procedures that should be followed when cleaning homes and schools that have been damaged by the hurricanes. AFL-CIO Hurricane Relief Worker Centers
The AFL-CIO has set up worker centers in Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, George and Texas to provide direct resources and assistance to all working families in those areas who have been affected by the hurricane disasters.
