Social Security Offset Hearings
Social Security Offset Hearings

Because they receive public employee pensions, teachers and PSRPs who work in Illinois and thirteen other states are unable to collect full Social Security benefits they earned on other jobs - their benefits are discounted. Hearings are being conducted this week before the United States Congress on the issue of correcting this unfair law, which would allow Illinois the same privilege as a majority of other states.

We are asking you to sign the petition to members of the committee who are holding the hearings, print and mail it to your U.S. Congressman and Senators.  Click belowfor your congressmen's addresses and click on view your congressman.  This will take you to the information, or you can copy and paste the contents of the letter into the message box and send it via email.

Subject: Fairness in Social Security

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

Illinois public employees are unfairly discriminated against because they are one of a few states that are not allowed to collect their full Social Security benefits. This is because of the "Offset" provision.

We urge Congress to pass HR 82 by Congressmen Berman and McKeon and S 206 by Senators Feinstein and Collins.
