The Chicago Teachers Union has a long
tradition of supporting unions in the city of Chicago. We
believe in the rights of all workers to a voice at work and a
decent living wage. We know that unionization has been a
positive social good that has helped strengthen Chicago's
economy and stabilize neighborhoods.CTU believes in the right of
all employees to organize and engage in collective
bargaining.
Please contact your alderman and/or the alderman where your
school is located to let them know that:
As a Chicago Teachers Union member, you want them to sign on
to and to vote ?yes? to the resolution that gives non-union
school employees the right to organize. We want the alderman to
urge all charter school and non-union managers and operators to
respect this right by remaining neutral during union organizing
campaigns. They should allow their employees to make a choice
concerning union representation that is free from coercion or
undue influence.
