Please sign the petition below asking your member of Congress to support the National Peace Officers Bill of Rights legislation.  This legislation, authored by Congresswoman Linda Sanchez (D-CA), provides due process rights for law enforcement officers – the same due process rights all workers are entitled to in the workplace but that are currently denied public safety officers in many states.

Please support the National Peace Officers Bill of Rights legislation authored by Congresswoman Linda Sanchez (D-CA) and sponsored by the National Coalition of Public Safety Officers (NCPSO-CWA). The purpose of the bill is to provide due process rights for law enforcement officers--the same due process rights all workers are entitled to in the workplace but that are currently denied public safety officers in many states.

The disasters of Hurricane Rita and Katrina saw officers from around the country responding to help people in other states. A National Peace Officers Bill of Rights will provide a set of guidelines that would provide due process rights for law enforcement officers in these situations. We provide due process rights for everyone else in this country.

Recent disasters requiring response from out of state officers show an immediate need for this legislation to help protect peace officers and the citizens they are sworn to protect. The National Peace Officers Bill of Rights Act will provide these rights to law enforcement officers in the work place.

We urge Members of Congress to pass this legislation to help our peace officers who put their lives on the line to protect us!
