Remember the Real Economy
The dangerous proposal that George Bush and his allies have put before Congress for resolving the U.S. financial crisis would let those most responsible for creating the problem off the hook while doing nothing to help the millions of Americans who face real financial distress as a result of their careless greed.
It is clear that Congress must act quickly to stabilize the economy. But they must not rubber stamp this blank check for Wall Street. Please take a few minutes and email your Senators and Representative today. Remind them that a bailout without conditions protecting American workers is unacceptable.

Subject: Use Common Sense for the Bailout
Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,
The Treasury Department's proposal to bail out financial institutions across the world is irresponsible and unacceptable. I cannot understand why every man, woman and child in America is being told to ante up $2,000 or more to bail out the recklessness of Wall Street CEO's. Instead of providing a blank check to those executives so that they can remain largely unaffected by the crisis they have created, the bail out should focus on providing relief to families like mine.
Any bailout plan must:
* Protect taxpayers.
* Hold CEOs and Directors accountable
* Aid the victims, not just the predators.
* Curb speculation.
* Create policies which encourage investment.
* Provide oversight. No more blank checks for Bush.
Please keep real Americans and the real economy in mind before approving any Wall Street bailouts. Anything less is unacceptable.
Sincerely,
|
