Support Bargaining at Rochester Citizens Frontier

Voice! Video! Data! Frontier Communications is steadily losing market share in Rochester, N.Y., to competitor Time-Warner who can provide it all. But instead of investing to upgrade services, Frontier would cover its falling profits by freezing wages and passing massive health care costs on to employees.

Please add your own comments to our sample letter below, then fill out your name and address information to send your message to Citizens Frontier CEO Maggie Wilderotter. Tell her that it takes quality people to provide quality service. And tell her to bargain a fair contract with CWA Local 1170.

Subject: Bargain a Fair Contract with CWA

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

The men and women of CWA Local 1170 have for years provided quality telephone service to residents of the Rochester, N.Y., area. But instead of rewarding them with a fair contract, Citizens Frontier seems determined to cover its falling profits through a wage freeze, unlimited subcontracting and massive health care cost shifting.

To compete in today's market, the company needs not only to upgrade its network to deliver voice, video and data services. It needs to respect its quality workforce and compensate the highly trained, highly skilled workers who build and maintain the network.

I urge you to bargain a fair contract for the 600 employees of Rochester Citizens Frontier.

Sincerely,

Background Information

Voice! Video! Data! Frontier Communications, owned by Citizens Communications, is steadily losing market share in Rochester, N.Y., to competitor Time-Warner who can provide it all. But instead of investing to upgrade services, Frontier would cover its falling profits by freezing wages and passing massive health care costs on to employees.

Instead of relying on its own highly-skilled workers, Frontier wants unlimited freedom to contract work to the lowest bidder, to consolidate work to non-union locations and to offer bonuses instead of a pay raise.

The nearly 600 men and women who work for Citizens Frontier in Rochester have been bargaining with the company since Dec. 20. They need your help. Send an e-mail to Citizens Frontier CEO Maggie Wilderotter.  Tell her that it takes quality people to provide quality service. And tell her to bargain a fair contract with CWA Local 1170.
