Subject: GE Retirees Deserve a Pension Increase

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

General Electric retirees have gone at least seven years without a pension increase. Those who retired in 1997 or later have had no increase whatsoever. In that time, the cost of living has increased by 17%.

The last permanent adjustment to pension benefits for those already retired came in April 2000. At the time, GE claimed that those who retired before 1986 would receive an increase from 15% to 35%. Since 1985, prices have risen over 87%.

All GE retirees desperately need a substantial pension increase. Those who have been retired the longest should receive the greatest percentage increase. Then, a permanent cost-of-living-adjustment should be implemented.

GE has not contributed to the pension plan since 1987. The plan is overfunded by $11.5 billion, or by 126%. GE can afford to pay retirees a living pension.

We need a pension increase and a permanent pension COLA NOW!!
