Tell Verizon: Respect Us!

Verizon Says We're a "Third Party"

A majority of Verizon Business technicians in the Northeast chose to form a union through the "majority sign-up" process. But Verizon is ignoring these workers' decision to form a union.

In fact, the company has sent out anti-union messages to all VZB workers, calling CWA and IBEW "third parties" and suggesting that we will say anything to trick VZB workers into signing union cards.

Please send a letter to Verizon Business Senior V.P. of Human Resources Bob Toohey and Verizon Chairman & CEO Ivan Seidenberg letting them know you support the workers at VZB and believe they should have a real voice at work. And tell Verizon to stop attacking us and our union contract!

(We will also cc your members of Congress, because Verizon's behavior is extremely relevant to the current debate over the Employee Free Choice Act.)

You can send the letter below as it is, or add your own comments.

Subject: Recognize Verizon Business Technicians' Union

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

As a union member, I wanted to let you know how disappointed I was to hear that you have not recognized the union formed by Verizon Business technicians.

CWA and IBEW have a 50-year bargaining relationship with Verizon, and Verizon Business employees deserve the same rights, protections, and benefits that we have.

Verizon has agreed in the past to recognize the union when a majority of workers sign union authorization cards. It is time to do so again. A clear majority of Verizon Business technicians want a union, and their choice should be honored.

The U.S. House of Representatives recently passed the Employee Free Choice Act, to ensure that workers can use this form of majority sign-up to form unions. Verizon should follow this example.

I urge you to reconsider your stance and recognize the Verizon Business Technicians' union.

Thank you.

Sincerely,
