Intensity Increases with Little Progress

The CWA and management committees have been locked in intense negotiations throughout the week. The negotiations are generating more "heat" than "light" and thus there is no real progress to report. Negotiations will continue at the subcommittee level straight through the weekend and into next week. We have let management know that we are willing to work long hours, seven days a week, even around the clock, if necessary, to reach a fair agreement for CWA members.

Unfortunately, even 24/7 work by our Committee may not be enough to get the job done. We will need the strong support from each and every member throughout the North Central region if we wish to win a fair contract. Locals will be holding worksite meetings over the next week to let members know about upcoming mobilization activities. Mobilization is the only way to let the company know that we all support our Bargaining Committee. Contact your Local for details on planned activities and show your support for a fair contract.

The next report will be on January 20, 2005 or sooner should developments warrant.
