Dear CWA e-Activist,
Once again, NYS phone
companies are trying to worm their way out of providing
affordable, high-quality telephone service for all New
Yorkers. In less than three weeks, on April 11th,
Governor Pataki’s Public Service Commission may vote to
weaken service standards and raise prices, giving Verizon,
Frontier, and other phone companies permission to slash jobs and
reduce service quality.
We can stop them, with your help.
On March 15 we scored a
significant -- but temporary -- victory when CWA, along with
consumer and community groups, forced the Public Service
Commission (PSC) to postpone its effort to roll back rules that
protect telecommunications workers and
customers.
We cannot stop here.
On April 11th, the PSC
plans to try again to gut service standards. But
Assemblymember Brodsky and Senators Tom Morahan and Nick
Spano have introduced a bill
to stop the PSC and protect our
jobs.
Click
here to tell your state legislators to support this
legislation. Then, please spread the word among your
co-workers. This is a battle we can win if we mobilize.
In Unity,
Chris Shelton Vice President CWA District 1
