March 27, 2007 - Action Alert!

Verizon Business workers want a union!

But management has launched a vicious anti-union campaign, spreading insults and misinformation about CWA and IBEW behind our backs.

Tell Verizon Business to Stop Union-Busting

Five members of Congress have certified that a clear majority of VZB technicians in New England and New York State want to join CWA and IBEW. (Check it out on YouTube: FreeChoiceAtVerizon.com)

Verizon's response? Calling our unions a "third party" that will interfere with labor-management relations. We have to speak up loud and clear and let Verizon know we won't stand for them talking about our union this way! (Read VZ's whole message: FreeChoiceAtVerizon.com)

Tell Verizon Business to Stop Union-Busting

Here's what VZB said about us: "We believe that the interests of our employees, our customers, and company are best served in an environment of direct contact between employees and management without the involvement of a third party."

The Verizon Business workers do the same work we do, and they should receive the same pay, benefits, job security, and seniority protection that our members have under our negotiated IBEW-CWA contracts with Verizon.

Whether you work at Verizon or not, please send a letter to Robert Toohey, Senior VP for Human Resources at VZ Business -- and the author of one of the anti-union messages -- and to Chairman & CEO Ivan Seidenberg. Let them know you support these workers and they should have a real voice at work.

Please tell the company it's got to do better.

We need to send a strong signal to the company that it should respect the union -- and not just in the Northeast. Thousands of Verizon Business employees across the country are trying to form unions. Let's help these workers get their wish –- without having to struggle so hard to do so.

Thank you for taking action and standing up for the rights of all Verizon workers!
