Extending early childhood opportunities to everyone in California is the goal behind Proposition 82, also known as the Preschool for All Initiative. If passed in June, Proposition 82 will provide every four-year-olds in California with the opportunity to attend a quality preschool program. This program would help millions of children start down the path of an improved overall educational experience.

A coalition of business, education, labor and early childhood leaders have already lined up in support of Proposition 82 – but we still need your help. Recently State Senate President Pro Tem Don Perata revoked his previous endorsement of the Preschool for All Initiative, and is encouraging other senators to do the same. We need your help to encourage state senators to endorse Proposition 82!

I am writing to urge you to endorse Proposition 82, the Preschool for All Initiative.

Proposition 82 will provide every four-year-old in California with the opportunity to attend a quality preschool program. As a supporter of early childhood education, I know how important these initial years are for educational development and that this will lead to a better overall K-12 classroom experience.

Multiple studies have shown that children who attend quality pre-school are more likely to become good readers in elementary school, less likely to be placed in special education or held back a grade, and are more likely to graduate from high school and attend college. They are also less likely to be arrested, incarcerated, or need public assistance as adults - all of which are positive outcomes for the state of California.

A coalition of business, education, labor and early childhood leaders have already lined up in support of Proposition 82 - and I ask that you add your name to this growing list of endorsers.
