Thank you for passing the Worthy Wage Day resolution

Thank you for taking the time to stand up for early childhood educators.  Because of your advocacy efforts, the House of Representatives passed the Worthy Wage Day resolution on May 1, 2007.  Please take a moment now to send a letter of thanks to your member of Congress.

Seventy-three members voted against the measure.  If you are unable to send the letter, it's because your representative voted 'no' or was not present to vote.  We encourage you to follow-up with your member of Congress to share more about the early childhood educators staffing crisis.

Subject: Thank you for voting in favor of the Worthy Wage Day Resolution!

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

I am writing to thank you for voting in favor of H. Con. Res. 112, designating May 1, 2007, as National Child Care Worthy Wage Day. On this day, early childhood advocates from across the country conducted public awareness and education efforts to highlight the importance of high quality early childhood education for our nation's young children.

As an advocate for high-quality early childhood education, I support any effort to give the teachers in that industry the raises, rights and respect they deserve.

Providing access to affordable and high quality childcare is vital to our nation's economy. Unfortunately, low wages and high turnover in the field make it difficult to recruit and retain the teachers we need to achieve this goal. I urge you to continue to support efforts to bring attention to, and remedy, this situation.

Thanks again for standing up for early childhood educators. I look forward to hearing more positive news on your actions in Washington.

Sincerely,
