Lighting the Way: A Vigil for Justice at Resurrection Health Care 6 AM Friday, September 25 to 6 PM Saturday, September 26 Assuring quality health care means assuring fair treatment of health care workers. But Resurrection Health Care (RHC), the Chicago area's second-largest hospital network, is taking exactly the opposite approach. Resurrection has been trampling on the rights of its employees who are seeking to form a union with AFSCME, creating a crisis of care that is reflected in the system's low performance on key quality indicators. Resurrection's unrelenting hostility to its employees' efforts to gain union representation demands a powerful and united response. That's why AFSCME members, along with community supporters and religious leaders, are joining Resurrection employees to hold a 36-hour vigil outside RHC headquarters. It's time to insist that this multi-million dollar health care system respect the rights of its workers. Sign up to be part of the vigil for a few hours on September 25 or 26. Show Resurrection workers that they are not alone in their quest for justice. For years Resurrection Health Care has engaged in an expensive and aggressive anti-union campaign to silence the voices of its employees who are seeking to form a union. Resurrection employees have risked discipline and even termination to stand up for their rights. Now they need you to stand with them. The vigil will be held across the street from Resurrection Medical Center, at 7432 W. Talcott from 6 am on Friday, September 25 until 6 pm Saturday, September 26, with a closing ceremony starting at 4 pm on Saturday. Please sign up for the vigil or call 312/641-6060 ext. 4772. |
