Our union, HPAE Local 5094, is currently in negotiations over wages with UMDNJ. As you know, management has proposed a zero percent pay increase for the next two years and a 1.5% take-back towards the health care premiums. We are deeply disturbed and insulted by the University's proposals which would result in a 1.5% pay cut. We are also concerned about the impact it will have on our ability to provide quality patient care, medical education and vital research. We, the undersigned professionals of HPAE Local 5094, are deeply disturbed by UMDNJ's insulting counter-proposals in the current negotiations. The University's proposals will result in a 1.5% pay cut. We are concerned not only about the financial impact of management?s proposal but it?s negative impact on patient care, vital research and medical education.

We support our Negotiating Committee's efforts to get a good contract, and we pledge to do whatever is necessary to ensure that the professional employees at UMDNJ are treated with respect and dignity.
