Say NO to UMDNJ Paycuts! Sign the Petition.
Our union, HPAE Local 5089, is currently in negotiations over wages with UMDNJ. As you know, management has proposed a zero percent pay increase for the next two years and a 1.5% take-back towards the health care premiums.
We are deeply disturbed and insulted by the University's proposals which would result in a 5.5% reduction in our real (take-home) pay and cause short staffing as nurses leave for other hospitals. We are not only concerned about the impact of management's proposal on our compensation, but it's negative effect on pateint care.
Say no to pay cuts! Support nurse retention and safe staffing.

We, the undersigned RNs of HPAE Local 5089, are deeply disturbed by UMDNJ's insulting counter-proposals in the current negotiations. UMD's proposals will result in a 5.5% reduction in our real (take-home) pay and cause short staffing as nureses leave for other hospitals. We are concerned not only about the impact of management's proposal on our compensation but it's negative effect on patient care.
We support our Negotiating Committee's efforts to get a good contract, and we pledge to do whatever is necessary to ensure that nurses are treated with respect and dignity.
