Tell Senator Menendez - Vote Yes on Budget!

NJ For Health Care, Horizon Watch and Health Care for America Now Partners and Allies,

We are at a crossroads.  President Obama has set forth a groundbreaking budget that that includes $634 billion as a down payment on health care reform and lays the necessary foundation for economic growth that benefits everyone.  The budget is an essential down payment to renew and rebuild opportunities for every family and every community.

President Obama’s budget puts money behind his commitment to fix our economy.  The funding in this budget is absolutely critical to our future.  If there is no health care funding in this budget we will not have health care reform in 2009.

This week the Senate is scheduled to take a critical vote on the President’s Budget.  This will not be an easy vote.  On TUESDAY AND/OR WEDNESDAY NJ Senator Robert Menendez needs to hear from us.  Senator Menendez sits on the powerful Senate Finance Committee.  We have very limited time to influence this process and get what we need to make sure health care reform doesn’t get derailed in 2009. Subject: Tell Senator Menendez - Vote Yes on Budget!

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

Please do not go through with dangerous and short-sighted cuts to the Department of Health and Senior Services, cuts in direct support for hospitals and levels of charity care, the imposition of co-pays in some Medicaid services as well as cuts in tuition assistance, prescription drug programs for seniors, community service agencies and other areas that are essential to our quality of life.

There are better choices, like closing corporate tax loopholes and asking more of wealthy individuals. We need a budget that invests in our state's future. I hope I can count on you to make better choices for New Jersey's working families.

Sincerely,
