Subject: Tell UMDNJ to Stop Stalling and Negotiate Now!

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

I am writing to express my extreme disappointment with the University's continued disregard for current and, in many cases, long term employees. After negotiating for over a year, management has yet to offer a wage proposal that is not a 1.5% pay cut. In addition, UMDNJ continues to hire new employees at higher salaries than those employees who are currently performing the same responsibilities, a practice that is both demoralizing to experienced employees and fiscally irresponsible of the university.

In our efforts to reach a mutually satisfactory resolution of our contract "reopener", the members of HPAE Local 5094 have requested a meeting with the Board of Trustees. The both of you refused on behalf of the Board, expressing an unwillingness to meet with the employees who are responsible for executing the missions of UMDNJ.

NO MORE EXCUSES, we are asking UMDNJ to institute fair hiring practices and to provide a reasonable offer at the negotiating table NOW!

Sincerely,

Background Information

We have reached out to the UMDNJ Board of Trustees in our efforts to reach a fair settlement, but they have refused to meet with us.

Let’s keep up the pressure and remind UMDNJ’s Board of Trustees that WE are the University. We Care. We Count.
