GET ACTIVE HPAE
Newton Nurses

For months, Newton Memorial Hospital administration has been spending countless funds meant for patient care on endless legal challenges to the rights of nurses to their union vote. Speak up now and encourage our elected officials to speak up for our rights. Ask your elected officials to write to the NMH Board and ask them to stop the legal delays and count our vote.

Subject: Newton Memorial Hospital Nurses

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

As Registered Nurses at Newton Memorial Hospital, we have dedicated our lives to providing the highest quality, most compassionate patient care that we can give. This has become more and more difficult in today's healthcare environment and at Newton Memorial Hospital in particular.

The Nurses at Newton Hospital have been organizing for more than a year to unionize so that we have the resources and the voice we need to advocate for our patients and for ourselves. Our voices have been silenced over the last several years with regard to patient care and safety and policies that recruit and retain nurses.

After months of delay due to legal challenges to our right to vote by Newton hospital administration, our election was held on May 14 and May 15. The Hospital administration, however, continued their efforts to silence our voices through appeals to the National Labor Relations Board (NRLB), keeping our ballots from being counted. Finally, our long delayed vote count was scheduled for Wednesday, June 24, but was once again delayed, as the hospital CEO spends countless patient care dollars in repeated attempts to deny us our voice and our democratic vote.

We are often the only voice for patients when they are too ill to speak for themselves. Without our rights, we cannot be effective patient advocates. We ask for your support, and urge you to ask Newton Hospital Board of Trustees to stop the delays and allow nurses their voice and their vote.

Sincerely,
