Greetings,
Every CLC will have staging
locations tomorrow and, of course, we are happy to have members
to show up anywhere. However, there are a few targeted areas
where we want to really focus AFT turnout. Here is a brief
summary of where we'll be most active tomorrow and where it
would be best to send members (I'll have an update for
Bergen/Hudson later today):
Camden County
The first stop on the AFL-CIO bus tour with
Gov. Corzine (and, probably, Randi) will be in Cherry Hill at
9:00. Please remind members in the area that this will be a very
important staging location for walks on Election Day. Michael
Cain, a member of United Adjuncts on release time with AFT has
been coordinating Camden County walks/phone banks. Patrice
Mareschal has done a lot of work with AFT Rutgers at the Camden
campus, as well.
Please ask any volunteers you know to
arrive at the staging location, click here for
directions<http://www.mapquest.com/maps?city=Cherry+Hill&state=NJ&address=2240+Marlton+Pike+W&zipcode=08002-3349>, by 9:30 to be there in time for the
rally/bus stop and take the day's first walk. You can reach
Michael at 651-442-8031 on his cell. He'll be based out of that
location all day with famous AFT blue t-shirts, for anyone who
can make it later in the day (walks will continue until at least
6:00).
Essex County
Newark Teachers Union, click here for
directions<http://www.mapquest.com/maps?city=Newark&state=NJ&address=1019+Broad+St&zipcode=07102-2426%20> ,will be a staging location for some
walks, but most importantly it will have 18 active phone lines
for calls. We will begin calling at 10:00 tomorrow and continue
until the polls are about to close. We'll be calling AFT members
and working off the general labor list for Essex
County.
Chris Runge, Deputy Director for AFT
Political Mobilization, will be at NTU. You can reach Chris at
240-672-7170.
Middlesex
County
We'll be based out of IBEW 456 in North
Brunswick, click here for directions<http://www.mapquest.com/maps?city=North+Brunswick&state=NJ&address=1295+Livingston+Ave.> , beginning at 9:30. There will be 2
major efforts for walks out of this location, in the morning and
at 4:00. We'll have some staff and a few volunteers who have
taken vacation days there during the morning, but we're counting
on a larger turnout of member volunteers in the late
afternoon.
Richelle Fiore, an organizer with the AFT
NE Region, will be there all day to help coordinate AFT members.
You can reach Richelle at 215-847-7080. There will also be a
limited number of phone lines there for a day-long phone bank
(Joyce from URA will be helping on this). Around 4:00, the
AFL-CIO bus tour will make its stop in Middlesex before the last
round of labor walks. Let's try to have a big turnout to show
our strength at this location before the last push of Election
Day. As always, there will be plenty of blue t-shirts
available.
If you have not already done so, PLEASE let
Jean Pierce know when and where you will be volunteering!

Thanks and good luck!
