Greetings,
CALL
TODAY!
1-877-235-2465
The House is scheduled to vote on health care reform this
Saturday, November 7, 2009. Please call 1-877-235-2465 and tell
your congressional representative to support H.R. 3962 the
Affordable Health Care for America Act. We must remain committed
to the goal of quality affordable care which does not place
added financial burden on the middle class. The House health
care bill accomplishes this goal and we must remind our
representatives of this fact.
The Affordable Health Care for America Act
will:
Generate funds through a 5.4 percent tax surcharge on
wealthy individuals with annual incomes of more than $500,000 or
on families earning more than $1 million, rather than taxing
employer provided health benefits.
Extend insurance coverage to 36 million uncovered
Americans, guaranteeing that 96 percent of Americans have
coverage.
Include a public option designed to lower costs and
foster competition.
Create a health insurance exchange making it easier for
small groups and individuals to purchase
coverage.
Will cap annual out-of-pocket expenses and prevent
insurance companies from denying coverage for pre-existing
conditions.
Reduce the federal deficit by roughly $30 billion over
the next decade.
Organizations that endorsed the House bill include the
national AFL-CIO, the AARP, which represents over 35 million
people ages 50 and older, as well as the American Medical
Association (AMA), the nation's largest association of
physicians and medical students.
