A MESSAGE FROM THE
INTERIM COUNCIL
January 25,
2008
The union bargaining
committee delivered its 2008 Pay Adjustment Proposal to
management today, which is attached. NOTE: this proposal is not for voting
on at this time, although once the union and management have
agreed in principle, you will have an opportunity to vote
whether or not you agree that the decisions should be
ratified. The proposal was
informed by data the union requested from management and
extensive input from bargaining unit employees. The union has
confirmed that the management bargaining team is available every
day next week for negotiating meetings. The union will provide
further updates next week regarding negotiations.
Also attached is a union request for financial
information to assist the negotiators in determining how the GAO
budget can be adjusted to accommodate each component of the
union proposal, or any variation thereof. While management might
not provide this financial data to the union at this time, the
union is hopeful that management will do so, and work
collaboratively with the union to resolve the 2008 pay
adjustment negotiations in the best interests of GAO employees
and the public they serve.
