GAO Union to
testify before Congress on "GAO Act of
2007"
For the
first time in GAO history, the official GAO union will be
testifying on the Hill on legislation that GAO has proposed that
affects all employees.
The hearing
before the U.S. House of Representatives’ Subcommittee on
the Federal Workforce, Postal Service and the District of
Columbia is: at 2 p.m., Thursday, March 13, 2008, room 2154, Rayburn House
Office Building.
GAO employee
Jacqueline Harpp, at-large representative for African Americans
and Legislative Committee member on the GAO Union’s
Interim Council will be testifying on behalf of the union. Shirley Jones, a member
of the Employee Advisory Council, will be testifying on the
results of the recent Hill survey of GAO employees.
Subcommittee Chairman Danny K. Davis (Illinois)
convened the hearing to examine the GAO Act of 2007 (H.R. 3268)
and “other legislative proposals that may be introduced
that address GAO Reforms.” Other witnesses expected
include Gene Dodaro, acting comptroller general; the Personnel
Appeals Board; and the Ivy Group (contractor hired by GAO to
