REMINDER: Dues Ratification Vote Underway—Please Cast YOUR Vote on the Dues Proposal

On Wednesday of last week (July 9th), each bargaining unit employee should have received an email titled "GAO Union 2008 Interim Dues Ratification Ballot" that directs you to a web site to vote on the interim dues structure of 0.3% (three-tenths of one percent).  IF YOU DID NOT RECEIVE THIS E-MAIL, please contact gaoanalysts@ifpte.org, with the subject line "Ratification Vote Ballot Not Received" or "Would like a PDF Ballot." Or you can contact your Interim Council representative or the Election Committee.  You will have until 8:00 p.m. on July 21 to cast your vote.

Remember, your vote does NOT require you to join the union or pay dues. Your vote is confidential. After the ratification of our constitution later this summer, this interim dues structure will apply until a more permanent governing body and the membership decides to make a change. For more information, or if you did not receive a ballot in your email, please visit our website: http://www.gaoanalysts.org/HTML_Pages/FAQs.htm

Thank you—your vote and your participation is vital to the future of the GAO Union!

Interim Council Plans Listening Sessions for Members of Bargaining Unit Feedback on Constitution

The Interim Council has been busy discussing a draft outline of the constitution developed by the Constitution Committee. Once the IC has completed consideration of this document, the Constitution Committee will schedule listening sessions as an opportunity for members of the bargaining unit to provide feedback about the various components of the constitution. Listening sessions will be held in headquarters and in the field (dates and times to be determined). As the constitution will define the union's structure and roles of union officials, the IC felt it important to provide an opportunity to hear from the bargaining unit on these critical representation issues. Once they are announced, we encourage you to attend these sessions to learn more about the process to develop the constitution and to provide feedback to the Constitution Committee. Using this feedback as well as further consideration by the Constitution Committee and the IC, the draft constitution will be developed and then will go before the bargaining unit for ratification.

We Want Your Feedback

The Communications Committee would like your feedback regarding articles you'd like to see, questions you’d like answered, or any other suggestions. Do you have a question or concern that you think others in the bargaining unit might share? Do you have a perspective on Union-management relations that you think might provide insight to others in the bargaining unit? Do you have an idea for a regular column? Do you know someone who should be receiving the newsletter, but isn’t?  This type of feedback will help to make the newsletter relevant and keep us from becoming just another “Delete” item in your mailbox!  Please send your comments to Lesia Mandzia (HC) or Charlie Willson (EWIS).

Call for Communiqué Contributions

If you are scheduling a Union-related meeting or have a Union-related announcement and would like to ensure that the information is circulated throughout the bargaining unit, please forward the information to Lesia Mandzia (HC) or Lise Levie (EWIS) by 6 p.m. ET on Thursday, July 10th, for inclusion in the next edition.
