Reminder: Dues Ratification Vote Ends Tonight—Please Cast YOUR Vote

Bargaining unit members have until 8:00 p.m. tonight July 21st  to cast their vote.  On Wednesday July 9th, each bargaining unit employee should have received an email titled "GAO Union 2008 Interim Dues Ratification Ballot" that directs you to a web site to vote on the interim dues structure of 0.3% (three-tenths of one percent).  IF YOU DID NOT RECEIVE THIS E-MAIL, please contact gaoanalysts@ifpte.org with the subject line "Ratification Vote Ballot Not Received" or "Would like a PDF Ballot." Or you can contact your Interim Council Representative or the Election Committee.

Remember, your vote does NOT require you to join the union or pay dues. Your vote is confidential. After the ratification of our constitution later this summer, this interim dues structure will apply until a more permanent governing body and the membership decides to make a change.

Thank you—your vote and your participation is vital to the future of the GAO Union!

GAO Act Update

The Legislative Committee has provided some information to the staffs of Senators Collins, Voinovich, and as of July 17, Chairman Lieberman, concerning questions they had about retirement contributions to the pension fund and interest payments for lump sum payments and pay increases for GAO employees who did not receive a COLA in 2007 or 2008 that are included in the GAO Act, HR 5683.  The staffers told us that they were working to try and finalize the legislation by the end of July.  The Legislative Committee and the IFPTE Legislative Director are closely checking to be sure we are available to answer any questions and move the legislation.  We will provide updates as we learn new information.

We Want Your Feedback

The Communications Committee would like your feedback regarding articles you'd like to see, questions you’d like answered, or any other suggestions. Do you have a question or concern that you think others in the bargaining unit might share? Do you have a perspective on Union-management relations that you think might provide insight to others in the bargaining unit? Do you have an idea for a regular column? Do you know someone who should be receiving the newsletter, but isn’t?  This type of feedback will help to make the newsletter relevant and keep us from becoming just another “Delete” item in your mailbox!  Please send your comments to Lesia Mandzia (HC) or Charlie Willson (EWIS).

Call for Communiqué Contributions

If you are scheduling a Union-related meeting or have a Union-related announcement and would like to ensure that the information is circulated throughout the bargaining unit, please forward the information to Lesia Mandzia (HC) or Lise Levie (EWIS) by 6 p.m. ET on Thursday, July 24th, for inclusion in the next edition.

Union Contacts

Get Active Action Center - Give the IFPTE Feedback

As we get more volunteers, we have better ideas. To assist Analysts in advancing their rights and representation within GAO, IFPTE has developed an advocacy tool to allow Analysts to provide feedback to the Union. GAO Analysts are encouraged to sign up for the Action Center if they haven't already done so at www.Unionvoice.org/gaoanalysts/home.html.

DISCLAIMER - Communications that are not sent directly from the IFPTE or the GAO Union Interim Council, or communications posted anonymously on the Web, do not represent the views of IFPTE or the official position of the collective members of the GAO bargaining unit.
