Union’s First Anniversary
Celebration Sept 19! Volunteers
Needed
Mark your calendars! The GAO Union will be hosting a party on
Friday,
September 19, 2008 to celebrate the anniversary of
the union's start one year ago. We hope to have the celebration
simultaneously in HQ and every field office. We will be
coordinating the plans in the next week and welcome any
volunteers who can help.
Please contact Gina Hoffman (757-552-8203 or hoffmang@gao.gov) if you
have any ideas and suggestions or can help with the
activities.
Two Vacancies Remain on the Interim
Council
We still have two vacancies on the Interim Council, one
for the Hispanic Diversity representative and another for the HQ
Staff Office Analysts representative. An application for
the Hispanic Diversity Representative has been submitted. According to the Interim
Council’s election rules, if we do not receive any further
applications for this position by 8 p.m. eastern time September 9, the
current applicant will be seated as the new Hispanic Diversity
representative.
Anyone interested in applying for either of these
positions should notify Elections Committee Chair Todd Anderson
(andersontd@gao.gov).
Nominations Sought for Finance
Committee
The Interim Council is still seeking volunteers for the
Finance Committee.
The committee’s primary responsibilities will
include monitoring the union’s finances, preparing annual
budgets, and providing reports to the Interim Council and/or its
successor, the Assembly. Ideally, we would like the committee to have
nine members, five who are members of the Interim Council (IC)
and four Bargaining Unit (BU) Members. We still need to fill two IC
positions and two BU positions. If more members apply for either the IC or BU
positions than what remain open, the IC will vote to select
members.
If you are interested in serving
on the committee, please send an e-mail to Elections Committee
Chair Todd Anderson (andersontd@gao.gov)
indicating that you are nominating yourself for a position on
the committee. You may also include a statement about why you
are seeking the position, but it is not required. If you have any
questions about the committee, please contact Kristi Karls
(karlsk@gao.gov).

6 p.m. ET on
Thursday, September 11, to be considered for next week's
Communiqué.

Get Active Action Center - Give the IFPTE
Feedback
As
we get more volunteers, we have better ideas. To assist Analysts
in advancing their rights and representation within GAO, IFPTE
has developed an advocacy tool to allow Analysts to provide
feedback to the Union. GAO
Analysts are encouraged to sign up for
the Action Center if they
haven’t already done so.
DISCLAIMER - Communications that are
not sent directly from the IFPTE or the GAO Union Interim
Council, or communications posted anonymously on the Web, do not
represent the views of IFPTE or the official position of the
collective members of the GAO bargaining unit.
