Join the Union by FRIDAY to be Eligible to Vote for Union Officers

As you may have seen from the flyers around GAO, the deadline for joining the union--if you want the opportunity to nominate, run, or vote for officers in the upcoming election--is Friday, November 21. This gives us time to process and verify membership status for the ballots.

To be eligible to vote, you must do two things: (1) submit a membership form and (2) pay dues in one of two ways:

  • To submit the membership application, you can give it to an IC member or scan and e-mail it to gaounionmembership@ifpte.org . Please do not send your membership application itself to HCO, however.
  • To begin paying dues, either fill out a Form 676 and send it to HCO;
    OR
    Send a signed check, for dues covering the pay periods 22-26, with a copy of your pay stub to Kristi Karls, Interim Council Treasurer, (karlsk@gao.gov). If you choose to pay by check, you can find instructions for determining your amount on the union website or ask Kristi for assistance.

For more information on joining the Union, visit http://www.gaoanalysts.org.

If you have already joined the Union - thanks! - you should have received an e-mail acknowledging receipt of your forms. If you have submitted your forms and have not received a welcome email, please contact Membership Committee Chair Chris Langford or send an email to gaounionmembership@ifpte.org.  We are excited with our membership levels so far, but we want everyone to "join the band!"

Nominations for Officers Start Today

Beginning today, you may nominate yourself or others to run for officer positions. Prospective candidates must be union members and be current on dues. The officer positions include: President; Vice President for Grievance and Dispute Resolution; Vice President for Field Operations; Secretary; and Treasurer. Nominations must be received via email to Elections Committee Chair Todd D. Anderson (andersontd@gao.gov) no later than 8:00 PM ET on November 28.

Campaigning begins December 1, and candidates should include a nomination statement that will be printed in the Voters Guide. For details on the open positions, the campaign and the election, please view the attached documents.
