GAO ANALYSTS MESSAGING CENTER

SPECIAL NOTICE:
GAO Union Officer Election Results

As union members, you are the first to learn the results of our first ever Union Officer elections. The Election Committee has reviewed and certified the results below. Congratulations to the winners, but we would also like thank all the candidates for their dedication and interest in serving. This is your union, so we would also like to express our thanks to those who voted in this democratic process.

The candidates below will take office at the Interim Council meeting today. If any of the new officers were serving as team or field representatives, they will continue to also serve in that role until our Assembly elections in February (see below for details). Normally, all officers serve two years, but in this first election, the terms of the Vice President for Grievance and Dispute Resolution and the Vice President for Field Operations will end November 1, 2009, and the terms of President, Treasurer, and Secretary will end November 1, 2010. This is in our Constitution, and the purpose was to stagger officer elections in the future. Finally, no member may be elected to the same office more than twice.

Assembly Vote

Now that our members have selected Officers, the elections for Assembly representatives will take place early next year.  The Assembly elections will give members a chance to run or vote for their next team, field, or PDP representative, as well as the diversity representatives.  More details will be provided in January.
