Sunday Sales

In 47 states some form of retail alcohol is permissible. In 37 states Sunday sales regulation is the same as the other six days.

The Georgia Legislature is currently considering a bill that would allow citizens and local governments to decide if they want to permit Sunday Sales.

Please contact your Legislator and ask them to allow local control of alcohol sales.

Sample Letter for Campaign

Subject: Sunday Sales

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

Please support legislation that would allow me and my fellow citizens to vote on whether or not my county should allow Sunday Sales of Alcohol.

Such a vote on your part is not a religious decision it is a vote to allow local control of our own affairs.

This letter is not about allowing Sunday Sales this letter is about allowing those affected the opportunity to have a say.

Local business, trade unions, chambers of commerce, small business groups, individual business owners and civic groups as well as over 60% of citizens support having the right to vote on Sunday Sales. Please vote yes on Sunday Sales Legislation.

Sincerely,

Background Information

JOBS!  Yes that's right; Sunday Sales will allow stores in Georgia (particularly in border towns) to compete with stores in other states.  And this is not just for the sale of alcohol.  If someone in Ringgold runs over to the Chattanooga Kroger to purchase a six pack chances are that is where they will buy their milk, eggs, bread and other groceries.  Sunday is the second busiest shopping day at grocery stores.  Allowing Sunday Sales will keep thousands of dollars at home in Georgia.
