You the Georgia Rate payer
will soon be paying extra on your power bill to
build the new Nuclear Units at Georgia Power's Plant Vogtle
in Waynesboro Georgia. Georgia Power hired Shaw
Construction to perform the Plant Construction. Shaw has given
every indication they intend to perform the project NON UNION.
These non union workers are likely to be out of state workers or
foreign nationals from Shaw's facilities in France,
Germany, Mexico or elswhere. They now have over
400 non union mainly out of state construction workers on the
job. If they are successful in doing this project without
a Project Labor Agreement it would be the largest non union
construction project in the United States and would be the first
of many non union Nuclear Plants constructed in the US; but
primarily in the Southeast and Southwest. WE CAN'T LET THIS
HAPPEN.
Please help the Building
Trades send a strong, loud and clear message to Georgia
Power and the Shaw Group and to anyone else that the
Labor Movement of Georgia is united in their determination to
stop union busting in Georgia. Join us at 6:00 AM Friday
November 6th 2009 at the Vogtle Nuclear Plant; 7821 River Rd, Waynesboro, GA. Information about hotel
accommodations will be forthcoming in future
emails.
We are going to the plant
site for this event and we hope to have a very big turnout. The next stop is
Atlanta. It has
been a while since we put 10,000 feet in the street but we can
do it again if we need to.
Stand Up Speak Out; If we
are going to pay for this Plant WE WANT TO BUILD
IT!
