Fairness in Asbestos Injury Resolution Act 2003

The Fairness in Asbestos Injury Resolution Act 2003 (Senate Bill-1125) merits your support.  The bill protects asbestos-related illness victims while it is fair to employers.

Too frequently workers and retirees suffering from asbestos-related problems have not been fairly treated.  At the same time, the huge liability facing companies with asbestos-related obligations can drive these companies into bankruptcy, a course that benefits no one.  Asbestos-related victims will receive far less in bankruptcy proceedings than they would under the terms of the National Fund set up under S.1125.

Notify members of the Senate Judiciary Committee that you support Senate Bill 1125!

Background Information

Jobs would be threatened by the impact of litigation against companies in bankruptcy if amendments to S.1125 are passed. Also, claimants affected by asbestosis might see their cases substantially delayed and inconsistently addressed.
