Working New Yorkers have been hit hard by the economic crisis already. Governor Paterson?s ill-conceived plan to lay off 9,000 working New Yorkers is plain wrong. It is bad policy to lay people off who are providing for their families health, wealth and well-being. The average state worker earns $40,000 p/ year. Slashing the middle-class is not a solution - this shows how out of sight the Governor has become with Main Street New York.
Months ago, Governor Paterson begged and pleaded to bail out the financial firm AIG but he refuses to bail out working New Yorkers. President Obama has provided Governor Paterson with the resources he needs to save jobs and Governor Paterson has turned his back on the people who make New York State the wonderful place it is.
We implore you to stand against the Governor's catastrophic plan to attack working New Yorkers. Tell the Governor to ask those who can afford it to pay a little more. MASS LAYOFFS ARE NOT THE SOLUTION! STOP THE LAYOFFS and KEEP NEW YORKERS WORKING!
DO NOT VOTE FOR A BUDGET WITH LAYOFFS AND LET THE GOVERNOR KNOW YOU DO NOT AGREE TO SLASHING JOBS OF WORKING NEW YORKERS.
