 GOTV Continues

Last Saturday, October 10th, we held two walks in support of Chris Cerone for Marlboro Supervisor and Matt Hanson for Dutchess County Legislature, District 22.  Thanks to everyone who participated and sent their volunteers.

This Saturday, October 17th, we will be walking again.  Canvassing efforts for Al Marotta, candidate for Dutchess County Legislative District 18, will begin at 9:30am.  Contact us immediately if you are able to participate and for more information.  The more folks we have, the lighter the load will be for everyone.

Please log in and visit our Political Action section to view our Mobilization Calendar.  If you haven't already signed up to walk or make phone calls, please contact us and get involved in the action.  We need to elect candidates who will support working families.  A few hours out of your day can make significant changes to your quality of life for years to come.

Governor Paterson Signs Green Jobs/Green New York Legislation

Governor Paterson signed a landmark piece of legislation yesterday that creates jobs, helps to improve the environment, and saves energy costs for New Yorkers.  State Assemblyman Kevin Cahill (Ulster/Dutchess) was a co-sponsor and major driving force behind turning this program into law.

Cahill explained, “This is exactly the type of innovative initiative President Obama envisions when he talks about creating green jobs and the new clean energy economy. A successful program here in New York will establish us as a national leader in tackling the tough challenges of climate change and employment opportunities in the 21st century.”

The Green Jobs/Green New York legislation will provide funding for home retrofits throughout the state, which reduces energy costs and promises to create thousands of jobs.  Communities throughout the Hudson Valley will benefit greatly from this law.

Ulster County Staffing Association Fighting for Contract

Last week we sent you an email alert about the struggle the Ulster County Staffing Association (UCSA) is facing in trying to secure a contract.  They have gone four years with no security and are asking for your help.  Please click on the link below to send a letter to Mike Hein, the Ulster County Executive, to encourage the County to get back to the bargaining table with UCSA members.
