Working families are struggling to make ends meet and the middle class is disappearing.  It’s time to make it easier for other hard working men and women in this country to organize and become union members! We need the Employee Free Choice Act to rebuild the middle class, to stabilize the economy—to turn America around.

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

I am a union member. I know first hand of the benefits my union has afforded to me. It is time to make it easier for other hard working men and women to experience the benefits of union membership. If you have not already, I urge you to cosponsor and vote for the Employee Free Choice Act ("EFCA").

We need the EFCA because the current system in place for forming unions and collectively bargaining is broken. Statistics show that corporations routinely harass, intimidate and even fire workers who are attempting to organize. Even if workers are successful in forming a union, 44% of the time they are unsuccessful in obtaining a first contract.

The EFCA helps American workers by accomplishing three things. First, the EFCA removes current barriers that prevent workers from forming unions and bargaining collectively. Under the EFCA, workers would be guaranteed a contract when they form a union. And lastly, the EFCA will strengthen penalties against companies that break the law during organizing campaigns and contract negotiations.
