Stop AT&T's Greed Now!

AT&T is dismantling the middle class one Job at a time.

AT&T’s Shameful Deception
AT&T is using the economic crisis
to claim it needs more concessions from its workers represented by the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) and Communication Workers of America (CWA).  AT&T is making these demands while they continue to reap huge dividends despite the global recession.

  • AT&T’s net income in 2008 rose 7.7 % to $12.9 billion.
  • Already in the first quarter of 2009, their net income was $3.1 billion.
  • AT&T gave its top executives over $33 million in compensation and perks.

Despite their solid financial position, AT&T is demanding that IBEW and CWA members and retirees hold the line on wages and agree to bear huge increases in their health care costs, and cuts in their pensions.

It’s a shameful ploy and, if allowed to stand, will be another blow to the working people of America’s middle class.  Enough is enough.  The middle class has been getting destroyed one piece at a time.  It’s time to fight back and save it one piece at a time.

IBEW members at AT&T are among the most productive in America.  AT&T reaped billions in profits to show for it.  IBEW members take great pride in the quality of their work.  These workers value each and every customer.  Nevertheless, AT&T is treating its workers like replaceable parts.  Not like partners in the company’s success, whose labors created their rising profits, even amidst the nation’s economic woes.

TAKE ACTION!

If you work for a living and have had enough of corporate greed, we urge you to send this letter to your elected officials and let them know AT&T’s unfair demands on IBEW and CWA members are undermining America’s middle class.

Tell them, “Enough is enough” you’re fed up with AT&T’s corporate greed and the damage it’s doing.  Urge your elected officials to demand that AT&T bargain a fair contract.

If you’re an AT&T customer, we especially hope you’ll give them a piece of your mind.
AT&T’s workers are dedicated to giving their customers the best service possible. They are being pushed around by a faceless corporation that cares only about the bottom line and their corporate executives’ outrageous compensation plans.

It’s time to draw a line in the sand.  It’s time to stop greedy corporations like AT&T from dismantling America’s middle class, one worker at a time.

Subject: AT&T Workers need your help!

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

AT&T is using the economic crisis created by Wall Street to defend their greed in demanding more concessions from working people. The company's net income in 2008 rose 7.7 % to $12.9 billion. Despite the recession, in the first quarter of 2009, AT&T's net income was $3.1 billion.

Consumers depend on the workers who ARE the AT&T network. They take great pride in the quality of their work, helping each and every customer. Union members play an integral role in AT&T's ascent to its position as a solid telecommunications and broadband competitor.

Despite their solid financial position, AT&T is demanding that the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and the Communication Workers of America members and retirees hold the line on wages, and agree to bear huge increases in their health care costs. Until there is a comprehensive national solution, simply throwing workers and retirees into the ranks of the underinsured will not well serve our Nation or our individual communities.

During these fragile economic conditions, a strong corporation like AT&T should be leading the way, showing how America can grow jobs, build communities, and achieve guaranteed health care for everyone. Now is not the time to insist on a reduction in health care coverage from workers and retirees. Good health benefits create a stronger middle class, and that is good for everyone.

I ask your support in urging AT&T CEO Randall Stephenson to direct his negotiators to show the level of good corporate citizenship that was once expected of those who built profitable, successful businesses in our Nation. Please mail a letter to Mr. Stephenson at 208 South Akard St, Suite 3700, Dallas TX 75202. Tell him, "Enough is enough" the middle class is already taking a beating in this economy, without companies like AT&T taking a bite out of its worker's standard of living."

Sincerely,
