IBEW Fights Back

SpecterEFCA

Greetings,

Please take a moment to take action on a matter which is very important to working class Americans. We are asking Senator Specter to reconsider his current position and support the Employee Free Choice Act. For years he has been a strong supporter of the Employee Free Choice Act. In 2005, he was a co-sponsor of the bill and in 2007,  he was one of the few Republicans to vote in favor of it.

Unfortunatly this year it appears the Senator is giving into pressure from corporate lobbyists desperate to maintain the status quo. The economy in this country has had a dramatic impact on all working families in America and this is certainly not a moment in time where the status quo will do.

Subject: Middle Class Americans need your help

Dear [decision maker name automatically inserted here],

I hope you will reconsider your current position and support the Employee Free Choice Act. For years, you have been a strong supporter of the Employee Free Choice Act. In 2005, you were a co-sponsor of the bill and in 2007, you were one of the few Republicans to vote in favor of it.
The workers in this great country need our elected leaders to stand up and support them now more than ever. Unfortunatly this year it appears you are giving into pressure from corporate lobbyists desperate to maintain the status quo. The economy in this country has had a dramatic impact on all working families in America and this is certainly not a moment in time where the status quo will do.
You recently claimed to be "committed to finding an answer" on making it easier to organize unions. But by working against the Employee Free Choice Act, you are protecting a system that allows employers to intimidate, harass, and even fire workers (in 34% of cases) when they try to form a union.
If the Employee Free Choice Act becomes law, it will help all American workers bargain for better wages, benefits and working conditions. Senator Specter, I respectfully ask you to reconsider your current position and stand up for the workers in America and support the Employee Free Choice Act. By standing up and supporting the EFCA you will show all working families that you truly understand the pressure this economy is putting on them and that its time the American worker gain the voice they need in the workplace .

Sincerely,

[Your Name]
