Andy came on-board in September of 2006 and brings an extensive union background. Prior to coming to the KS AFL-CIO, Andy spent 9 years with the Kansas Association of Public Employees (KAPE), an affiliate of AFT and the AFL-CIO. While at KAPE, Andy served as a AFT Project Field Rep Organizer, Director of Labor Relations, and Executive Director. Before that, Andy worked in the electrical trade industry for 17 years and served as the Training Director of the Electrical Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee for the I.B.E.W. Local Union #226. He is a past member of the National Electrical Training Director Association. Andy started his young adult working career and was first exposed to the benefits of unions at the United Parcel Service (U.P.S.). Further, Andy was a registered business agent in his tenure at KAPE and served on numerous committees while at KAPE, such as the unions legislative committee and was part of the KAPE lobbying team. He has also served as a KAPE delegate to the KS AFL-CIO conventions, was elected to the board for the Topeka Federation of Labor and has also served on the Greater Topeka United Way Board. He is a past member of the National Electrical Training Directors Association. Andy currently serves on the Long Range Transportation Advisory Committee, the Kansas Action Network (KAN) board, the Employment Security Advisory Council, and the Kansas Coaltion for Workplace Safety.
Brother Tunnell began his full time career with the Kansas AFL-CIO in November of 2009. Bruce moved to Wichita in 1984 from Cincinnati Ohio where he was a laid off Teamster. Shortly after moving to Wichita Bruce went to work at Kansas Gas Service which is represented by the United Steel Workers (USW) Local 13417. Bruce was appointed to the position of Hall Guide and to the negotiating committee in 1985 and was elected President of Local 13417 in 1988 and served as President until coming to work for the Kansas AFL-CIO. Since coming to the Kansas AFL-CIO, Bruce has been elected President of the Kansas Coaltion for Workplace Safety (KCWS). The KCWS is working for all of the working people in Kansas to help pass legislation for better workers compensation benefits. Brother Tunnell has moved to Topeka and says he now call Kansas his home and is proud to be in a postion to help the working people of Kansas. Contact Bruce at: btunnell123@swbell.net
Dona, began her career with the KS AFL-CIO in 1982 and is in every respect part of the success of the organization. Carrying out the administrative duties and responsibilites, she has guided the organization through many changes including the move from the building in the dowtown location in 1995. Her valuable experince in the daily operations of the office range from data input, book keeping, record keeping, mailings, data base management to conventions, conferences, committees and other function arrangements. |
