Wichita Welcomes Immigrant Workers
Freedom Ride
Sept 27
Endorse the Immigrant Workers Freedom Ride

Immigrant workers, living and paying taxes in the United States, want the rights to apply for citizenship and reunify their families... rights denied by their undocumented status and outdated laws. The road to citizenship needs a new map. The goal of the Immigrant Workers Freedom Ride is to help draw that map.

Inspired by the Freedom Riders of the Civil Rights Movement, thousands of immigrant workers (and by a coalition of unions, business, immigrant and civil rights organizations, clergy, students, and elected Democratic and Republican leaders) will ride buses to Washington, D.C. and then gather in New York City on October 4, 2003.

Two buses of freedom riders from the San Francisco bay area will arrive in Wichita on September 27 to share their experiences with union members, community activists, and people of faith.

We invite you to join us in drawing a new map for the road to citizenship. Sign up to endorse the Immigrant Workers Freedom Ride.

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

I agree that the road to citizenship needs a new map.

I endorse the efforts of the Immigrant Workers Freedom Ride.

I support the four goals of the ride (1) the rights to legalize their status with a a clear road to citizenship, (2) to reunify their families, (3) to have a voice on the job without regard to legal status, and (4) to enjoy full protection of their civil rights and civil liberties

You can use my organization publicly as a supporter the Ride and its visit to Wichita.

Sincerely,

Inspired by the Freedom Riders of the Civil Rights Movement, thousands of immigrant workers will ride buses to Washington, D.C. and then New York City in the Fall 2003. (See the route map.)

Joined by a coalition of unions, business, immigrant and civil rights organizations, clergy, students, and elected Democratic and Republican leaders, immigrant workers will to gather to bring attention to the issues of fair and equitable citizenship rights and immigration laws.

Hotel and restaurant workers, janitors, farm workers, construction workers, meat packers, laborers, garment workers, health care workers and computer engineers...hard working immigrants who sacrifice so much to come here, make America’s economy the strongest in the world.

Join us in drawing a new map for the road to citizenship.
