From the AFM's Legislative Office
2007 NEA Funding

This Thursday, the House of Representatives will begin consideration of a bill concerning the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA.) Please take the time to urge your Congressperson to support an amendment that would increase 2007 funding for the NEA. The bill under consideration does not provide any increase to the current NEA funding level. This increase would allow the NEA to keep up with inflation, and improve its level of service to the American people. Please take a moment to contact your Representative to increase funding for the arts. Thank you.

Subject: 2007 NEA Funding

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

Soon an amendment to the Interior Appropriations bill will be introduced in the House that will provide additional funding to the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA). As a professional musician, I understand the important role that the NEA plays in the creative life of our nation. I am therefore asking you to support the amendment that will give additional and much needed funds to the NEA for its next fiscal year.

The Congressional Arts Caucus will be offering an amendment that will increase the NEA funding by $5-7.5 million. We urge you to support this amendment.

Sincerely,
