Support Fidelity Workers!

Demand temp agencies not be used to break the strike!

Workers at Fidelity House Human Services in the Lawrence area take care of people with developmental disabilities in the Merrimack Valley. They are members of SEIU Local 509 and scheduled to strike for one day on May 20. They are seeking a modest pay raise, and improved training. These workers are in extreme need. High turnover of staff has compromised the quality of care at the agency. Unfortunately two temp-worker agencies are making plans to undermine the strike by providing strikebreakers to cross the picket lines. The two agencies are Allstaff and Stafflink. Please click on the following link and tell the temp agencies to stay away from Fidelity House during the strike.

Subject: Temp Workers in Lawerence

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

It has come to my attention that your agency is planning to send staff to cross the picket line at Fidelity House on May 20. I urge you to refrain from sending strikebreakers. You would be undermining the Fidelity House workers. Their goal is make Fidelity House a better place to work and a better place to deliver services. I am following this situation closely and hope that you keep your agency away from this dispute.

Sincerely,

Background Information

SEIU Local 509 members at Fidelity House, INC., a human services agency based in Lawrence, recently voted unanimously to authorize a one day strike.  We provide care to people with developmental disabilities in the Merrimac Valley.

They are trying to improve the quality of services at Fidelity House through training.  We are even willing to tie our paychecks to training, but the company has rejected our proposal for any raise.

The formula is simple:  Management is insisting that they cannot give us a raise.  Most workers at Fidelity House already have to work two and even three jobs just to support their families.
