Important Information!

Greetings,

Dear Members,

As we enter into very difficult financial times in our schools, district, communities and state, it is important to stay steady and calm.  There is so much speculation flying around and so many rumors being shared that it becomes hard to know what is what.   Our financial future is so tenuous that no one really knows what it will be - the state debt grows continuously and the talk of cuts, shifts,  freezes, and the like, is ever-changing.

Over the next couple of months, it will be important for all of us to be engaged as much as possible in the District's School Options Planning process and budget conversations.  The decisions being made will effect all of us so we need to share our thoughts openly during the process.  Many of you have wonderful insights as to what types of changes could help us make it through the challenging times ahead so we should be sure these insights get shared.

The MFT will be creating a focus group of teachers and ESPs to meet with the District about the future.  If anyone is interested in being a part of these in depth conversations, please contact me at lnordgren@mft59.org.

Below find 6 online District links that provide you with more info and data.  The MFT Executive Board will be meeting next week to discuss the situation and will be communicating with you throughout the upcoming months.

No one person has all the solutions so the whole of us will be needed in order to create/find them.  Thanks for your patience, optimism, and professionalism as we move forward.
