For Your Information:
We are expecting 13 teacher layoffs this spring - 11
probationary and 2 tenured.
This is considerably less than in past years! See the
attachment for the history of layoffs.
While any layoff is never a good thing, the low numbers this
year will cause less instability in our schools. As we all
know, that is a good thing.
For those who are being laid off, MFT will send out a
packet of support information to each person as soon as we know
their names. We will also let respective stewards know who
the teachers are so that they may reach out to anyone in their
school who may have received notice. We want to be sure
our colleagues who have been laid off have someone to talk with
during this time.
Please feel free to refer them to the MFT as well.
