TAKE ACTION!

Greetings,

We just received this message from the AFT - please do a quick response TODAY supporting this legislation by clicking on the link provided in the email below.  Safer, greener, updated school buildings are a necessity not a luxury.  Tell you legislator how important the physical learning environment is to students and teachers in order for each to do their very best.

Thanks!

Dear AFT Member,

Tell Your Representative To Support H.R. 2187, the 21st Century
Green High-Performing Public School Facilities Act of 2009.

On Wednesday, May 13, the U.S. House of Representatives is
scheduled to consider much-needed legislation (H.R. 2187) to
help states and localities improve deteriorating and outdated
school buildings. Similar legislation was passed by the House in
2008 but was never considered in the Senate.

H.R. 2187 recognizes that a safe and modern learning environment
is integral to raising student achievement. Too many students,
teachers and school staff suffer in overcrowded, aging and
unhealthy buildings; these conditions make it more difficult to
reach the high academic standards set for all schools.

Take Action Today!
Visit http://www.unionvoice.org/ct/I7aawdF1UqK3/ to call your representative in support of H.R. 2187! When prompted, enter your phone number. The system will automatically dial your representative and call you when connected.

Passage of H.R. 2187 would represent a solid step toward improving schools, both by addressing school conditions that compromise learning and teaching, and by providing the safe and modern schools our children and educators deserve.

Dial 866/327-8670 or visit http://www.unionvoice.org/ct/I7aawdF1UqK3/ to call your representative today and tell your U.S. representative to vote for the 21st Century Green High-Performing Public School Facilities Act when it is considered on the House floor later this week.

Thanks for your advocacy on this important issue.
