Missouri Working Families Fight Back Team
STOP THE CUTS

Dear Representative:

You will soon be voting on a budget reconciliation bill that slashes crucial domestic programs by $50 billion.  Supporters of these cuts claim that they are necessary to pay for hurricane relief and to reduce the exploding federal deficit.  In reality, the proposal to cut Medicaid, student loans, child support and food stamps is being forced on Congress to make room for $70 billion in tax cuts for the rich.

It is unconscionable to demand additional sacrifices from working families, the poor and hurricane victims for the purpose of enriching the wealthiest Americans.  Even worse, these supposed deficit-reducing measures would actually increase the federal deficit by at least $30 billion, saddling our children and grandchildren with ever increasing amounts of debt.

It is time for responsible moderates to stand up and insist that our government invest in good jobs, health care and education, instead of tax cuts for the rich.  Vote no on the budget reconciliation bill.
