PAID FAMILY LEAVE LEGISLATION

PAID FAMILY LEAVE LEGISLATION

The New Jersey Partnership for Working Families Coalition, as well as over 60 community, religious, labor, women, academic and minority organizations have been at the forefront of campaigns to implement a paid family leave program and have worked with the Legislature to develop and introduce meaningful and appropriate legislation on this issue. Believing that no worker should have to choose between their jobs and their ability to spend the first critical weeks of a child's life, or between a paycheck and a desire to care for a sick family member, I  respectfully ask for your support of Paid Family Leave.

Subject: The NJ Partnership for Working Families Asks You to Please Pledge to Support Paid Family Leave

Dear [ Decision Maker ] ,

As a constituent of yours I would like to know your position on pending Paid Family Leave Legislation. I hope you will agree that workers should not have to choose between their jobs and their ability to spend the first critical weeks of a child's life, or between a paycheck and a desire to care for a seriously ill family member.

That is why I am respectfully asking you to support this important legislation and become a cosponsor of S-2249 / A-3812, Paid Family Leave legislation. This bill will give workers the opportunity to take up to 10 weeks off at two-thirds of their pay to care for a sick family member, newborn or newly adopted child. Additionally, this benefit will be entirely funded by employee contributions and will not cost businesses in the state a penny.

On behalf of myself and my family, I respectfully ask for your sponsorship of this important legislation and look forward to hearing your position on Paid Family Leave.

Sincerely,
