AFL-CIO Organizing Institute

At the

 Rutgers University Inn and Conference Center

On

Friday, April 25, 2008 - Sunday, April 27, 2008

 

All affiliates are invited to send members to this 3-day course, which will train activists on basic organizing skills.  At this training, participants will learn:

- One-on-one Communication Skills

- How to Move Workers to Take Action

- Leadership Identification

- Basic Elements of a Union Organizing Campaign

 

Union members must have a completed sponsorship form from their union and may not sponsor themselves.  The cost to an affiliate for sponsoring a member is $156 per participant.  This fee will cover the cost of meals and training materials only.  Any costs for hotel overnight stays, parking or getting the participants to the training, whether local or out of area, are the responsibility of the sponsoring union.

Overnight Accommodations:

Participants wishing to stay overnight at the Rutgers University Inn and Conference Center, or their sponsoring union, are responsible for booking the participants' overnight accommodations at the Rutgers University Inn, by calling (732) 932-9144 and mentioning group code "Organizing," to receive the discounted rate $84 per night for a single room or $97 per night for a double room.  Rooms are limited and the Inn cannot guarantee that rooms will be available unless they are booked by March 24th, 2008.
