Leap Training to Address Workplace Change

Greetings,

Fall LEAP Course Announcement

Leap Training to Address Workplace Change:

Job Retention, Job Transition, Layoffs and Plant Closings

Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday, October 21, 22 & 23, 2008

8:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. @ Rutgers Labor Center

The New Jersey State AFL-CIO, in partnership with the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development, provides the Labor Employment Action Project (LEAP) to enable New Jersey's unions to work pro-actively for workers whose jobs may be vulnerable.  LEAP addresses the serious challenges of mass layoffs and plant closings, as well as the important opportunities provided by life-long learning, New Jersey's One Stop Career Centers, and other valuable services.

A key component of LEAP is the Peer Counselor Train-the-Trainer program, which is being conducted Tuesday through Thursday, October 21, 22 & 23, 2008, 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Rutgers Labor Center in New Brunswick.  Over 500 union leaders and members have participated in our LEAP training, and thousands of union members have benefited from the assistance Peer Counselors provided.

There is no charge for the LEAP Peer Counselor Training program and there are funds available to reimburse attendees for lost wages (up to $200 maximum per day.)  We encourage you to participate in this important training opportunity.  Please click here for a copy of the LEAP brochure detailing all available services, the course outline, and a LEAP course application form.
